Mulberry, where I live, is a tree!!! They are amazing trees that give yummy yummy Mulberries (we eat them right off the tree) , we make jam or other preserves from them. A lot of other things include canning the rest we don't use at that time! The leaves are great for savory dishes, too. Think small cabbage rolls, but with Mulberry leaves instead. Mulberry leaves are used in salads, savory dishes, and all sorts of ways to eat!!!! Birds love to eat them as well. When it fruits and drops, take up the dried ones and feed them to the ducks!!!! The ones around here love them!!!

Hey Nate. Love the update. It really is fascinating how livestock guardian dogs work. Just wanted to ask you if you knew anything about the power lines Will is building under? He said something about the vegetation being sprayed with herbicide to maintain the powerlines overhead. And it does really seem like it has as there are no major trees and a lot of the plants have burnt leaves. If that is the case, wont the soil and ground water in that area be contaminated with herbicide (possibly glyphosate)?? probably not a very good idea to live and grow food on?

Muscovy ducks are notorious for all laying in one nest so that by the time one sits, there'll be as many as 20 some odd eggs in it. I've had 26 ducklings hatch out in one clutch. Such a proud mama.

Chickens stink & attract rats with their inescapable mess. Cows take a bunch of flat land. Pigs take a shitload of water, more than most others. Ducks & goats is ideal for smaller homesteads without a lot of pastures.

i found out the hard way that my dog can clear a 6’ fence. the only reason she did that was to get to me, so i eliminated the problem by keeping her with me, or taking her to work with me where she is in a large, secure kennel, so she can’t get out
